Cloud Migration Engineer

• Core Working Hours:8:00am-5:00pm MST for onshore resources. And normal working hours for offshore resource depending on where their located.

• Work Week: 40 hours 

• Project Description: With the acquisition Goldcorp by Newmont, there are multiple on-premise data centers; Denver, Markham, Calgary & within the regions/sites, each running similar infrastructure services on aging hardware. This effort is aimed at consolidating and reducing data center footprint by migrating applications to the cloud.

• Reporting to:Senior Manager, Enterprise Architecture

• Team Size/Structure:5-6 direct, and ~15 indirectly with some of our service providers i.e. Microsoft

• Hiring Process: one video conference interview to an offer, 2 rounds of interview, etc.? Once we have down-selected, we’ll setup WebEx interviews with the business. After those have been conducted, we may ask for additional WebEx interviews with other internal partners.

  • Can this work be done fully remote or is some onsite work required? Where is your on-prem data center located?

Yes, it can be done remotely. On-Prem is in Markham (outskirt of Toronto) and Denver.

  • How many and what version of Windows based servers will be migrated?

We have multiple versions; anywhere from 2008 to 2016 windows based server. A little over 1000 servers. We’re going through vetting process. Applications are getting dispositioned (some will be retired)

  • What Azure migration tools will Newmont be using for this project?

AzureMigrate/Azure ASR.

  • Besides migrating applications and servers to Azure and using a migration tool, what depth of experience is required with Azure?

Windows administration is more important, we can train the person on the migration tools.

Newmont is currently looking for a total of (3) Migration Specialists to start on or about October 19th 2020. These can be either onshore, offshore, or mix of both. Below is the Skills/Qualifications and Responsibilities for the role. Since there are three positions open, we’ll allow up to 10 resumes/profiles. Skills/Qualifications:

    • Technical knowledge and experiences on migrating on-premise workload to Azure using cloud migration tools is a must.
    • Install, configure and administer Windows-based servers.
    • Basic understanding of network and routing and ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
    • Understanding of SQL Databases, configuration, backup/restore methods
    • Must have working knowledge of in a virtual environments
    • Familiarity with system resiliency; backup/restore, clustering and disaster recovery
    • Independent working style and proficient problem solving skills
    • Able to work and communicate clearly with diverse group of people to reach a census on how the tool needs to be used
    • Good written communication skills – able to document meetings, develop processes and procedures

 

Responsibilities:

    • Migrate assigned applications and servers to Azure
    • Install and configure Windows based servers and databases
    • Configure cloud migration tool for workload migration from on-premise Data Center to the Cloud
    • Contribute to migration methodology and discuss alternatives
    • Adhere to processes and procedures
    • Develop test scenarios, build test cases and document unit test evidences

Network Engineer

UPDATE: 7/20.  We are 0-2 on this one so we need to be very diligent in our screening process.  This person NEEDS to understand that they will be the Sole Network Engineer and there is a lot of work involved.  They will also assist in a lot of maintenance and server side work.  They will work with security team and help build out new sites. 

It is critical that they can explain times when they were solely responsible for an entire network.  They cant have been just part of a team. 

CCNA or CCNP required.  

$120k Max convert but try and stay under.

Job Description

Position Summary

The network engineer is responsible for the set up and maintenance of the enterprise’s current and future network environment.

Expertise with routers, switches and firewalls required, as well as VOIP and IPT (IP Telephony). Project management and strong organization skills required. Job will include installing, monitoring, troubleshooting and repairing data communications lines and equipment for Local and Wide Area Networks, Wireless, as well as, researching, testing and evaluating new solutions. Additional telecom duties will include the design, install, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of local and remote telephony systems and associated assemblies. Other duties may be assigned.

Network Engineer III

Design and maintain corporate wide area network

Plans layout and installation of data communications equipment

Design “build to suit” communications infrastructure solutions such cloud connectivity and security solutions

Plan and coordinate remote office communications equipment installations and changes

Provides Level III technical network support to resolve problems in conjunction with the IT Service Desk and end users

Performs the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, monitoring and upgrade of networks, including, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, fiber networks and network management systems

Monitor bandwidth, routing and QOS to ensure an efficient cost effective network operation.

Reviews work orders to move, change, install, repair or remove data communications equipment such as switches, routers, ports, WAPS etc.

Configures new routers and switching equipment and reviews existing configurations to ensure efficiency

Implement and support VOIP and IPT

Performs analysis of telephony needs and recommends design of telephony network architecture, integration and installation

Installs and maintains local and remote telephony and voicemail, hardware and software including switches, handsets and cabling

Maintains highest levels of network data security and protection from disaster

Tests communication lines to ensure that specifications are met

Coordinates carrier trouble tickets and repairs

Serves as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers and ensures timely maintenance renewals and monitors compliance of network related support agreements

Develops and writes procedures for installation, use and solving problems of communications hardware and software

May consult with senior peers on certain projects

Determines policy and procedures for the data networks

Maintains detailed network documentation and keeps it current

Works under minimal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers

Level III
