Position Title: Imaging Programmer

Job Function:
Responsible for the timely and consistent set up of customer art files for direct mail production. Specific responsibilities include the analysis of incoming customer art files, for the purpose of variable data letter set ups for both laser and digital print production
Responsibilities:
- Mapping of data fields and/or scripting in imaging software to prep for laser or Digital Press.
- Utilize imaging software to create print ready documents
- Provide required documentation to Laser department for release to production.
- Responsible for producing hard copy, soft copy and/or laser sign offs, tracking revisions, obtaining approval and compliance with all departmental procedures associated with documenting these tasks.
- Analyze imaging programs to ensure accuracy of setup and compliance with personalization instructions.
- Ensure accuracy of all processed output related reports. Interfaces with Data Processing, Pre-Press, Production and Client Services to insure client expectations are met.
- Cross departmental and self audit of Imaging and Pre-press functions as directed by Management
- Imagers must also be versed in Pre-Press functions for redundancy purposes. These include:
- Verify the accuracy of laser copy, and positioning in relation to the copy provided by the client
- Prepping customer supplied art files and importing into Print Net T to create initial workflow – this includes utilization of Print Net T plug in functionality.
- Color Management inside software platforms for Digital Print output
- Ensure accuracy personalization instructions and final output.
- Review job specifications to identify time constraints and report potential trouble spots to DP Management.
- Execute and prioritize all projects assigned in order to meet deadlines.
- Communicate status of jobs at key time intervals to DP Management.
- Support Client Services by reviewing personalization instructions and sharing technical knowledge.
- Promote quality work and maintain a professional work environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, make recommendations and be prepared to answer the “why” questions that may surface due to lack of understanding.
- Exercise independent judgment in the course of carrying out job functions.
- Must be available to work overtime during the week and on weekends during heavy workload periods that require increased work hours.
- Support the direction and philosophy of the company
- Adherence to all Qualfon policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and directed by Management
Qualifications:
Experience with one or more of the following platforms is desirable:
- Quadient Inspire
- Pageflex
- All Adobe products
- Microsoft Office Applications
- Illustrator
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of personalization systems, i.e. Print Net T/Quadient Inspire. Apply knowledge of imaging processes and capabilities to support client needs and direction of Qualfon Management.
- Solid understanding of Imaging workflow, including laser and Digital print output processes.
- Knowledge utilizing common barcodes such as Postnet, IMB, UPC, 2D, etc..
- Must have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Solid understanding of Data Processing workflow
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as an integral team member
- Ability to negotiate and deal constructively with conflicts and problems
- Ability to maintain order in an environment of ever-changing priorities
