As part of the Data Platforms team, the Enterprise Data Architect position contributes to the overall BPX Data Platform Strategy.  We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to work with us to help design the data ecosystem of the future.  BPX is using Data to propel the organization forward by improving customer value and experience.  You will be responsible for defining the company wide Cloud Data Architecture direction within the data ecosystem in line with agreed business standards and strategy. BPX is a highly agile and flexible organization that achieves a considerable amount with a very lean administration so you must be self-motivated, task and results orientated.

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Define and manage a clear & strategic Data Architecture roadmap in alignment with the wider IT organization and business vision.
  • Partner with colleagues in the business to understand how data architecture can be leveraged to achieve business objectives.
  • Engage with digital technology initiatives to influence digital technology solution design and advance data architecture objectives.
  • Document and communicate principles, standards, and guidelines that promote data architecture stability and advancement.
  • Assess digital technology proposals to ensure compliance with data architecture principles and standards and alignment with the data architecture vision.
  • Define and manage the enterprise data landscape including internal and external applications and data stores, data authoring solutions, and data sharing networks.
  • Partner with security, network, platform, and solution architects to define and ensure data architecture and digital technology solution alignment with the enterprise architecture.
  • Partner with data engineers to define and enforce standards and design patterns that promote solid data architecture practices.

  • Partner with data scientists and optimization engineers to understand and satisfy demand for raw and curated data needed for analytics, machine learning, and operations improvement initiatives.
  • Leverage the power of an integrated and event responsive data architecture to enable a data-driven business.
  • Identify important potential technologies and approaches to address current and future Data needs, as well as leading the definition of standards and best-practice, for their use.
  • Support Data Virtualization and Governance team members in defining the Architecture and Technology governance processes for our Data ecosystem and coach and mentor members of the team to provide technical oversight.
  • Responsible for identifying how Information & Data can be better used to forward the aims of BPX.
  • Consistently demonstrate strong experience in Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Database architectures, design patterns, best practices, and programming techniques around relational modelling, dimensional modelling and data integration.
  • Undertake the quality assurance of new & developed data structures and associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions).
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the appropriate corporate data standards and of the appropriate professional and/or legal data standards.
  • Be knowledgeable of industry trends and best practices, advising senior management on new and improved data engineering cloud strategies that will drive departmental performance leading to improvement in overall improvement in data governance across the business, promoting informed decision-making, and ultimately improving overall business performance.

Education: 
 

  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar technical degree, or equivalent work experience

Required Experience:
 

  • Significant experience in the capacity of Enterprise Architect or Data Architect, with extensive experience leading Information/ Data Architecture across an organization.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in IT/Data & Analytics with 7+ years of Data Engineering and/or Data Architect experience.
  • Strong knowledge of architecture methodologies, principles, and frameworks, ideally PPDM, and has practical experience of defining technology domain roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated experience working in large-scale data environments which included real-time and batch processing requirements.
  • Ability to work at various levels, including business process, data architecture, data integration, and data tools/platforms.
  • Proficient in Information modelling using tools and techniques which can be used to document an understanding of the structure, relationships, and use of information within an organization.
  • Experience with Big Data technologies, visualization and reporting tools, data profiling analysis and transformation & experience with Cloud Data technologies, solutions, and future Cloud Data Strategies
  • Strong understanding of activities within primary discipline such as Master Data management (MDM), Metadata Management, and Data Governance (DG).
  • Experience with different IT delivery approaches (waterfall, agile, lean, etc…)
  • Ability to work with multiple external teams and accomplish shared goals by building consensus
  • Have a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving with demonstrable verbal and written communications skills.

Desired Experience:

In addition to the essential criteria & qualifications the successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Prior experience with Oil & Gas Industry, a plus
  • Experience with data collection systems gained in a regulatory, corporate reporting or similar environment.
  • Significant experience with business process change, and systems integration projects
  • Familiar with principles, methods, techniques, and tools for the effective management of the testing process and the execution of tests throughout the lifecycle of development projects.
  • Experience with the Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms, AWS preferred
  • Experience with SnowFlake
  • Experience with Denodo and/or FiveTran
  • Experience with data modeling and/or architecture modeling tools.
  • Experience with enterprise systems, such as ERP, especially SAP, CRM, HRM, etc.
  • Desire to continually learn outside of a classroom environment, and successfully apply learnings

Data Engineer

As part of the Data Platforms team, the Data Engineer position contributes to the overall BPX Data Platform Strategy. 

  • Define data workflow, pipelines, security, and ELT/ETL guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Provide oversight to ensure that project teams are following the approved data workflow, pipelines, security, and ETL/ELT processing guidelines
  • Evaluate, compare, and recommend new Data Platform vendor products and/or tools
  • Partner with project teams to provide technical direction and new integration patterns, where needed, for complex and/or large data sets

Present modifications to Data Platforms to the Architecture Review Board for approval

Responsibilities
 

  • Responsible for the development, guidance, and oversight for data ingestions and integrations for BPX cloud data platforms.
  • Work with project teams to provide direction on approved patterns to meet the project data requirements for our Data Platforms.
  • Strong SQL development knowledge required to provide support to project developers/users for database design, data flow and analysis activities.
  • Development and deployment of innovative big data platforms for advanced analytics and data processing.
  • Define and build the data rules and pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business.
  • Ensure stable solutions, stable infrastructure, and participate in the design and build out of data solutions.
  • Be comfortable operating as an individual contributor and using influence and expertise to aid the transformation of an organization.
  • The database and data support roles are outsourced to a managed services partner that resides within the Data Platform team, and this role will require the ability to work and partner with those resources.
  • Create data storage solutions optimized for performance and maintain data architecture standards across BPX Data Platforms.
  • Leads innovation through exploration, benchmarking, making recommendations, and implementing data technologies.
  • Partner with the Data Quality Lead to incorporate testing and validation scripts to support the accuracy of data transformations.
  • Implement Master Data Management solutions, processes, and governance to support the Data Management team.
  • Partner with the DataOps support team to troubleshoot data issues and provide guidance for solving these issues.

  • Experience with REST APIs for data ingestion
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processing with large data stores
  • Experience designing and delivering large scale, 24-7, mission-critical data pipelines and features using modern big data architectures
  • Stream processing services such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Apache Storm, Spark Streaming, Azure Event Grid etc
  • Demonstrated experience working in large-scale data environments which includes real-time and batch processing
  • Strong data modeling skills (relational, dimensional, and flattened)
  • Strong analytical and SQL skills, with attention to detail

MINT MOBILE is seeking a talented Data Engineer II to join the Data Management Team! Individual reports to Manager of Data Engineering. Role is remote; must reside in the United States.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Data Engineer is a hybrid business-technical role within the Data Management team responsible for partnering with business and technical stakeholders to plan the delivery of data solutions including design, development, enhancement to ELT/ETL processes and components of data pipelines to support analysis, reporting, analytics, and data science. The role will focus on having a mindset of data quality, governance, and pipeline performance to ensure data integrity and information usability for internal decision making.

  • Partner with appropriate stakeholders to consult and recommend requirements to design, develop, test, update data integration (this includes but not limited to ELT/ETL processes/pipelines, stored procedures, views, functions), and data profiling processes. 
  • Create, validate, and/or update source-to-target maps, assist with logical and physical model design, update and maintain metadata repositories/dictionaries.  
  • Partner with stakeholders to lead code reviews, data model reviews, and testing. 
  • Lead the collaboration with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to recommend and improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility, and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Ensure high data quality and availability by partnering with stakeholders from the infrastructure, network, database, application, and business intelligence teams to identify lifecycle of data to consult/recommend process changes to implement.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Demonstrated strength in ELT/ETL, data services, data pipelines, data modeling (OLTP, 3/NF, dimensional), data lake, cloud warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, and reporting/analytic tools.
  • Experience with ETL tools (Talend/Stitch, Informatica, Fivetran, Matillion, or similar) including distributed architectures (Microservices, SOA, and RESTful APIs).
  • Development using at least one scripting languages Python, R, C#.NET, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services such as Redshift, Aurora, Dynamo, Glue, S3, EMR, Lambda, Kinesis, and SNS/SQS.
  • Experienced with development and modeling for columnar storage and massive parallel processing data warehouses (Hadoop, Snowflake, Redshift) with a keen sense to optimize for scalability, availability, security, cost, and performance.
